BEAR Scotland Announces £300,000 Carriageway Surfacing Improvement Works

Construction News Image
BEAR Scotland has announced a £300,000 carriageway surfacing improvement works for the A90 Forfar Junction, set to begin on Thursday 04 August.

The project will address defects in the road surface on the northbound section of the A90 at B9128 Forfar Junction, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to take place over four days, with all improvements expected to be complete by 6.30am on Monday 8 August.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, the works will take place as follows:

• Thursday evening 04 August to Friday evening 05 August – From 7.30pm until 6:00am, there will be lane 2 closures on the A90 northbound and southbound with 50mph speed restrictions in place whilst our teams take down barriers ahead of the contraflow. Contraflow equipment will also be installed overnight. Throughout the day on Friday 05 August, lane 2 of the A90 southbound will remain closed with a 50mph speed restriction in place.

• Friday evening 05 August – Monday morning 08 August – From 7.30pm on Friday 5 August until 6:00am on Monday 8 August, the A90 northbound will be closed from Kirriemuir Junction until Battledykes Junction. All traffic will travel in contraflow on the A90 southbound. During the contraflow, traffic wishing to leave Battledykes Junction to head southbound on the A90 will be diverted to St Anne's Junction then down the A90 southbound.

All traffic management will be removed, and the road fully reopened by 06:00am on Monday 08 August.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland's North East Representative, said: "The £300,000 investment from Transport Scotland will allow us to carry out surfacing improvements on this section of the A90 to ensure our network continues to operate at the highest standard.

"The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists during this project. To help minimise delays as much as possible, we've planned the operations to take place consecutively where possible, and our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination."
