SSEN's team in South Caledonia have hosted a visit from Murdo Fraser, MSP for Mid-Scotland and Fife, to highlight the work that has been done on the local network around Glenshee and Glenisla.
The team gave Mr Fraser a guided tour around parts of the rural network which were particularly badly affected by Storms Arwen, Malik and Corrie, and where the overhead lines have since been rebuilt or upgraded. The tour also stopped off at Dalrulzion Primary substation, to provide an overview of how the electricity network operates, and how SSEN's local infrastructure powers the local communities.
In addition to network resilience, discussions over the course of the visit covered a wide range of subjects, including: Being prepared - the importance of personal and community resilience; Working with other agencies – our role in Local Resilience Forums; The benefits of network automation; How the Priority Services Register can offer support to vulnerable customers including those who may find themselves "temporary vulnerable" customers, e.g. people who have just left hospital.
