BEAR Scotland have announced a £30,000 road safety project on the A85 at Stonefield Rail Bridge in Connel, scheduled to take place over 10 days.
The project will involve teams upgrading safety barriers adjacent to the trunk road and is part of the continuing investment in road safety on the A85 by Transport Scotland.
The improvements are expected to take up to ten days to complete and works are scheduled to take place between 8am and 6pm each day. Completion is expected by 6pm Friday 8 July, subject to weather conditions. No works will take place over the weekend period.
To protect roadworkers and road users during the works, temporary traffic lights will be utilised to manage vehicle movements through the site and a temporary 30mph speed limit will also be in place. Traffic management will be removed at the weekend but will remain in place outwith working hours during the week given the nature of the works being undertaken.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland's North West Representative, said: "Road safety is a top priority at BEAR Scotland and Transport Scotland, and this scheme on the A85 at Stonefield Bridge is part of our commitment to improving the trunk road network.
"The traffic management arrangements are essential and will protect our workforce as well as motorists. We have taken steps to minimise disruption by having no works at the weekend and by using temporary traffic lights during the works to keep the traffic moving.
"Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and as safely as possible, but we encourage all road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date journey information."
