GRAHAM has announced its commitment to the Young Person's Guarantee – a joint commitment to provide opportunities for all 16-24 year olds in Scotland through jobs, apprenticeships, further and higher education, training programmes and volunteering.
The construction giant said they were looking forward to delivering the best opportunities they can for young people, working alongside DYW Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian; DYW Glasgow; DYW Fife; and DYW North East. Building valuable partnerships and offering young people opportunities across the different communities we work within in Scotland is important to us.
GRAHAM will be providing valuable opportunities for young people through routes such as trainee schemes, graduate employment, apprenticeships and funding and support for further education.
Every young person who connects with us will benefit from our industry leading Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR) commitment. Our FIR approach creates a culture where everyone feels valued as an individual and can perform at their best. In addition, we host a quarterly Young Persons Forum where our younger colleagues come together to share ideas and hear from our Regional Managing Director, Gary Holmes. We also proudly hold Investors in People Platinum accreditation.
Suzanne Stevenson, Social Impact Advisor, commented: "There are a number of young people across Scotland who face a variety of obstacles preventing them from finding their careers and living up to their fullest potential.
"At GRAHAM we look to provide as many opportunities as possible to young people, through our apprenticeships, trainee schemes and graduate opportunities, and we also provide funding and day release for further education.
"GRAHAM is a member of the '5% Club', an organisation consisting of companies committed to ensuring 5% of their workforce over the next five years is comprised of young people on structured learning schemes.
"Within our own Building North region, we currently have 13% of our workforce made up of young people."
