McGill has been appointed to carry out electrical upgrade works at one of Dundee's most historic buildings, Caird Hall.
The project consists of remodelling the existing male bathroom, as well as the accessible toilet in the entrance lobby, and will incorporate new wall and flooring finishes. McGill, which has its own sustainability policy and is working towards become a net-zero organisation, is also installing low energy lighting as part of this contract, and is committed to using low energy consumption products wherever possible, to align with Dundee City Council's own commitment to becoming carbon neutral.
Caird Hall is one of Dundee's most prestigious buildings, and is Category A listed. McGill's expert teams have vast experience in carrying out work in listed buildings, including Edinburgh Castle and the capital's Scott Monument.
McGill, which is the foremost main contractor in North East Scotland and one of the fastest-growing companies in the country, currently works with a large number of public sector organisations, including Dundee, Fife, Angus, and Falkirk Councils. As one of the area's longest-standing employers, McGill runs a thriving apprenticeship programme, and is proud to be one of Dundee's Living Wage Employers.
Speaking of the contract award, Chief Operations Officer Douglas Smith MRICS commented: "Caird Hall is a very important building for the people of Dundee, and the city will celebrate its centennial next year. We're very proud to play a part in its story, and delighted we can support Dundee City Council in reaching their net-zero target with our own approach to low energy consumption in every project we carry out."
