ZetTrans To Produce New Shetland Regional Transport Strategy

Shetland Islands Council has appointed ZetTrans to produce a new Regional Transport Strategy to support the council's vision for a healthier, greener, more inclusive transport system.

The new strategy will guide the development of Shetland's transport system over the next 20-year period. Stantec UK Ltd has been commissioned by ZetTrans to support the preparation of this new Strategy.

The Regional Transport Strategy will be based around a Case for Change. This sets out the transport problems in Shetland and between Shetland and the Scottish mainland identified through public engagement. It also establishes a set of Strategy Objectives which reflect these problems.

ZetTrans is seeking views and feedback on the draft Case for Change prior to progressing further.

Once the Case for Change is finalised, a set of options will be developed and appraised to resolve the problems identified and deliver the objectives. These will shape the final Regional Transport Strategy.

The Case for Change consultation can be found at: www.zettrans.org.uk/about/consultations. The deadline for responses is 5pm on Monday 2nd May 2022.
