BEAR Scotland Announce Footway Improvement Works

Construction News Image
BEAR Scotland have announced a £90,000 footway improvement scheme in Fort Augustus, adjacent to the A82.

The works, set to get underway from Monday 21 March, will involve teams resurfacing over 1km of the existing footway in Fort Augustus as well as undertaken kerb realignment works.

Phase one of the project is expected to begin on Monday 21 March and is programmed to take place between 7am and 7pm over two weeks, with all works expected to be completed by Friday 1 April, subject to weather. No works are programmed to take place at the weekend.

To keep roadworkers and road users safe, temporary traffic lights will be in operation continuously for the duration of the project. A temporary footway will also be provided to allow pedestrians to pass through the site safely.

The second phase of works are scheduled to take place in late spring, more information will be shared once details of the project has been confirmed.

Consultation has been undertaken with local residents, businesses, the local authority and emergency services to make them aware of the works and the traffic management arrangements that will be in place.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland's North West Representative, said: "These essential improvement works will upgrade the existing footway next to the A82, improving the quality and safety of the facility for pedestrians in Fort Augustus.

"The traffic management required to undertake these works is essential and will help to keep everyone safe, so we encourage all road users and pedestrians follow the direction signage whilst temporary arrangements are in place.

"We thank road users for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information."
