Glendevon Bridge Repairs Delayed By Additional Urgent Repairs

Perth & Kinross Council has announced a delay to the current bridge repair works on the A823 at Glendevon.

While the works on the bridge had been ongoing, the council has reported that a large hole had been created by the flow of the watercourse behind the existing masonry wall that currently supports the bridge arch.

To address the situation, additional immediate repair works were required to ensure the stability of the existing structure was maintained.


This unforeseen issue has led to a delay in the works. As a result the start of the proposed road closure, expected to begin in December 2021 and last approximately two weeks, has been moved back to 17 January 2022.

A full road closure for vehicles will still be necessary, however the council has said that they intend that the bridge will remain open for pedestrians and cyclists. There may be instances where a temporary restriction on pedestrian/cyclist access will be necessary, for example during the lifting operations to remove the temporary bridge currently in place. It is hoped that any restriction of this type will only be needed for a relatively short time.
