Breedon Appointed For A92 Road Surface Improvement Works

Construction News Image
BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland operating company, has announced road surface improvement works for four sites on the A92 between Panmurefield Roundabout and Muirdrum Interchange.

The project will involve improvements on the A92 at Panmurefield Roundabout, the westbound section after Muirdrum Interchange, the eastbound section approaching Muirdrum Interchange and the westbound section approaching Ethiebeaton Roundabout. The project will see 1.5km of carriageway resurfaced, creating a safer and smoother journey for motorists.

The surfacing improvements are set to begin on Sunday 21 November over two weeks. To help minimise disruption to road users, all improvements will take place overnight between 7pm and 7am. No works will take place on Friday and Saturday nights.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the first four nights of work at Panmurefield Roundabout will require a road closure between 7pm to 7am. During the closures eastbound traffic will be diverted south from Claypotts Junction onto the B978 Claypotts Road then east on the A930 Monifieth Road, then continue on A930 Ferry Road and Grange Road to West Grange Roundabout. Westbound traffic will follow the same diversion route but vice versa. Access to Balmossie Brae on the north side of Panmurefield Roundabout will be maintained on the eastbound carriageway.

All other locations will be carried out using a 10mph convoy system for safety during working hours.

All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Consultation is being carried out with emergency services, local authorities and transport organisations ahead of the project to inform them of the plans and the traffic management that will be in place each week.

A spokesperson for BEAR Scotland said: "This resurfacing programme is essential to ensure the continued safe use of these areas on the A92. The improvements, funded by Claymore Roads, are part of our long term A92 road maintenance programme and will help to ensure that the route remains fit for purpose for years to come.

"To help limit disruption as much as possible, we have planned these works to take place overnight as well as avoiding the busier Friday and Saturday nights, however our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.

"We would encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance, leave some extra time for travel and ask them to drive carefully through any traffic management which is in place for their safety."

Works are being undertaken by Breedon Trading Ltd on behalf of Claymore Roads and supervised by BEAR Scotland Ltd.
