Pat Munro Appointed For Struie Hill Repair Works

Construction News Image
The Highland Council has announced that essential repair works for the B9176 Struie Hill road will start from Monday 1 November, following a successful bid for grant funds from the Strategic Timber Transport Scheme.

The contract has been awarded to Pat Munro (Alness) Ltd who are due on site from next Monday for a period of 5 weeks. The work will be carried out in three locations and will include mostly patching and overlay works with additional drainage and ditching carried out when required.

The works for the first two sections that run through Ardross and continue north on the B9176 to Strathrory Bridge will be carried out under a convoy traffic management system (Mon-Fri, 8am – 6pm) so the Council is advising all road users to expect significant delays. An alternative route north and south, avoiding all the works, is available via the A836 and the A9 trunk road that by-passes Tain.

The work in the third area includes resurfacing at Dalneich Bridge (also known locally as Newbridge) and due to the poor road width and alignment these works will be done under a full road closure. This will complete Highland Council funded work which began in August 2021 but couldn't be completed due to Covid 19.

Regular users of the B9176 Struie Hill road will be aware of the significant deterioration of many parts of the route. The funding obtained is not sufficient to address all the defects, and only the most significant defects will be repaired with these scheduled works.

Site signage will be erected before works starts.

The Council would like to thank residents and road users for their patience and apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
