£185,000 Worth Of Surface Improvement Works For A96 Announced

Construction News Image
BEAR Scotland have announced that road surface improvement works worth £185,000 on the A96 between Bainshole and Huntly is to begin on Sunday 26 September.

The improvements will address defects along a 400m stretch of the A96 at Brideswell Junction, creating a safer and smoother surface for road users.

The overnight project is scheduled to begin on Sunday 26 September and will take place over four nights between 7.30pm and 6.30am. All work is expected to be completed by 6.30am on Thursday 30 September, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, temporary traffic lights with a 10mph convoy system will be in place during the overnight construction works. The convoy system will then be removed outwith working hours. However, due to the nature of the works, one lane of the A96 will remain closed with temporary traffic lights in place to ensure safety throughout the duration of the project.

Consultation with all relevant stakeholders has been completed in advance of the surfacing improvements to ensure awareness of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland's North East Representative, said: "This £185,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A96 between Bainshole and Huntly, as well as creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

"The traffic management is essential for everyone's safety, however, we've taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including removing the convoy operation during the daytime.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A96. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination."
