CECA Scotland has met with Central Scotland MSP and Shadow Transport Minister Graham Simpson to discuss the construction skills gap and the role infrastructure can play in the road to Net Zero.
They visited Mackenzie Construction sites around Glasgow, Blantyre, and Carluke to find out about how the company's innovative Smart Surface technology reduces CO2 emissions, cuts waste and contributes to the circular economy.
Graham Simpson, MSP for Central Scotland said: "Thanks go to Mackenzie Construction for meeting me and showing me a couple of their sites where they have used their Smart Surface product.
"I met with MD Andy Dalrymple and Mark Wilson at Mackenzie Construction, to chat about the challenges they are facing and how they are tackling them.
"Training is a huge challenge across the sector with an ageing workforce, so I was pleased to hear they have a rolling programme of recruitment and training.
"I was shown their innovative Smart Surface product, which is the circular economy in action. It allows them to mix materials that are already on site with a power to form a new hard surface.
"We visited the Clyde Walkway – one of my favourite spots actually – where they did a two mile section at Blantyre a few years ago and it still looks great.
"We also visited a Scottish Water site where they are doing a new compound and I saw at first-hand how it works.
"I was also pleased to hear that the company is picking up work in England – again with water companies."
