Plans have been set out to relocate a Scottish Water main in Brae next month.
North Lanarkshire Council will work with the utility to move the main from the western side of A71 Horsley Brae to the eastern side and to enable the permanent repair of the land slip on the western side of the road.
Two temporary road closures will be in place throughout the work.
The A71 Horsley Brae, from north of the junction with the B7011 Brownlee Road extending 200m north, will be closed for five days from 00:01 on Monday 13 September until 23:59 Friday 17 September 2021. A signed diversion route will be in place to allow continued access through B7011 Brownlee Road.
The B7011 Brownlee Road, from the junction with the A71 Horsley Brae to the junction with Maudslie Road, will be closed for five days from 00:01 on Monday 20 September until 23:59 on Friday 24 September 2021. A signed diversion will be in place to allow continued access through the A71 Horsley Brae.
These enabling works are part of the planned junction improvement project which, when complete, will help to improve traffic flow and road safety at this strategic junction.
The Council is working with South Lanarkshire Council and its contractors to plan and organise the works to ensure the A71 and B7011 are not closed at the same time, reducing disruption as much as possible.
Daily working hours on the project have been extended to minimise the duration of the closures, and everything will be done to keep the closures to a minimum.
