BEAR Scotland have started work on a series of road surfacing improvements at five locations on the A92 between Ethiebeaton Roundabout and Salmondsmuir Interchange.
The project will involve improvements on the A92 at Travebank to Upper Victoria eastbound and westbound, the westbound approach to Salmondsmuir Interchange, after Ethiebeaton Roundabout eastbound and after Ardestie Interchange westbound. The project will see almost 3km of carriageway resurfaced, creating a safer and smoother journey for motorists.
The surfacing improvements are set to begin on Sunday 8 August over four weeks. To help minimise disruption to road users, all improvements will take place overnight between 7pm and 7am. No works will take place on Friday and Saturday nights.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the majority of the works will be carried out using a 10mph convoy system during working hours. At some sites, slip road closures will be required between 7pm and 7am. During the closures, local signed diversions will be in place.
All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.
Consultation is being carried out with emergency services, local authorities and transport organisations ahead of the project to inform them of the plans and the traffic management that will be in place each week.
A spokesperson for BEAR Scotland said: "This resurfacing programme is essential to ensure the continued safe use of these areas on the A92. The improvements, funded by Claymore Roads, are part of our long term A92 road maintenance programme and will help to ensure that the route remains fit for purpose for years to come.
"To help limit disruption as much as possible, we have planned these works to take place overnight as well as avoiding the busier Friday and Saturday nights, however our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.
"We would encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance, leave some extra time for travel and ask them to drive carefully through any traffic management which is in place for their safety."
Works are being undertaken by Breedon Trading Ltd on behalf of Claymore Roads and supervised by BEAR Scotland Ltd.
