Essential Road Resurfacing Works Announced By Perth & Kinross Council

Perth & Kinross Council have announced essential road resurfacing works will be carried out over two weeks in the Bridgend area of Perth, from Sunday 01 August 2021.

The road resurfacing will be carried out on Main Street, Bridgend from Gowrie Street to Isla Road and on East Bridge Street and Lochie Brae from the junction with Perth Bridge to Muirhall Road. Works will be carried out in phases in an effort to keep disruption to a minimum:

Main Street, Bridgend

Phase 1: Sunday 01 August 2021, Perth Bridge junction from Gowrie Street to approximately Davidsons Chemist. Perth Bridge, East Bridge Street and Lochie Brae will be closed to all vehicles. All traffic will be diverted via Queens Bridge with local diversions for the Gannochy area via Dupplin Road and the Kinnoull Hill area via Manse Road.

Isla Road will also be closed to all vehicles for Scottish Water works. The diversion route for traffic for Isla Road and the A93 will be via the A94 - C438 Wolfhill - A93 and vice versa.

Two-way temporary traffic lights with a pedestrian phase will be in place to manage single lane traffic on Main Street and Gowrie Street.

Phase 2: Monday 02 - Friday 06 August 2021, section approximately from Davidsons Chemist to Kwikfit. East Bridge Street, Lochie Brae and Isla Road will be closed to all vehicles. The same diversion routes as for Phase 1 will remain in place.

Three-way temporary traffic lights with a pedestrian phase will be installed to manage two-way traffic on Main Street, Perth Bridge and Gowrie Street. Perth Bridge will be open however only to cars as a result of restrictions from safety barriers and cones.

No right turn from Main Street onto Perth Bridge will be permitted for any vehicles, with traffic diverted via Queens Bridge. Southbound traffic on Main Street will run on the temporary traffic signals' green light until pedestrians require to cross the road. Bus services that use Perth Bridge will also be diverted via Queens Bridge.

Phase 3: Sunday 08 August 2021, Perth Bridge junction. Traffic management and diversion routes will be the same as for Phase 1.

Phase 4: Monday 09 to Wednesday 11 August 2021: Section approximately from Kwikfit to the Isla Road junction. Isla Road will be closed to all traffic with diversion via A94 - C438 Wolfhill - A93. Perth Bridge, East Bridge Street and Lochie Brae open to traffic.

Two-way temporary traffic lights with a pedestrian phase will be in place to manage single lane traffic on Main Street and Strathmore Street.

Phase 5: Sunday 15 August 2021,  Perth Bridge junction. Traffic management arrangements will be the same as for Phase 1.

East Bridge Street / Lochie Brae

Sunday 01 August: resurfacing on Perth Bridge junction. East Bridge Street and Lochie Brae will be closed to all vehicles; traffic will be diverted via Queens Bridge with local diversions via Dupplin Road for the Gannochy area and Manse Road for the Kinnoull Hill area, as per Phase 1 of the Main Street, Bridgend works outlined above.

Monday 02 - Friday 06 August 2021: from Perth Bridge junction to Muirhall Road. The road will be closed to all traffic with diversions in place as above. 

Sunday 08 August 2021: resurfacing Perth Bridge junction. East Bridge Street and Lochie Brae will be closed to all vehicles, with diversions via Dupplin Road and Manse Road as per Main Street, Bridgend Phase 1.

Sunday 15 August 2021: resurfacing Perth Bridge junction. East Bridge Street and Lochie Brae will again be closed to all vehicles and diversion will be via Dupplin Road and Manse Road as previously indicated. 

During the works, there will be no on-street parking or loading on Main Street, East Bridge Street or Lochie Brae.
