As part of an ongoing programme to improve the road network the Ayrshire Roads Alliance has announced essential road resurfacing works on two sections of the A713 Ayr to Dalmellington road.
Starting on Monday 5 July for three weeks, the road works will involve removing sections of the existing road surface, deep patching, laying a base course, adjusting ironware, laying a new surface course and renewing the associated road markings and studs.
To ensure the safety of the roads operatives and the travelling public, overnight road closures will be required at certain times during both phases.
• Phase one – A713, immediately South of Waterside
This phase is due to start on Monday 5 July and will continue for up to one week.
All preparatory work will be undertaken on weekdays between 08.00 until 17.00 and convoy traffic management will be in place, with delays possible.
To lay the new surface course, it is anticipated that two overnight road closures will be required on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 July from 20:00 until 06.00, when signed accordingly.
An alternative route will be signed via B741 to New Cumnock, A76 to A70 Dettingen Roundabout Cumnock, to A70 Coylton, to B742 to re-join the A713 and vice versa.
During the A713 Waterside overnight road closures, Stagecoach will be running a shuttle service. For further information contact Stagecoach customer services on 01292 613 541, Monday to Friday between 06.30 and 18.30.
• Phase two – A713 immediately North of Polnessan
This phase is due to start on Monday 12 July and will continue for up to two weeks.
All preparatory work will be undertaken during weekdays between 08.00 until 17.00 and convoy traffic management will be in place, with delays possible.
To lay the new surface course, it is anticipated that three overnight road closures will be required on Friday 16, Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 July from 20.00 until 06.00, when signed accordingly.
An alternative route will be signed via B741 to New Cumnock, A76 to A70 Dettingen Roundabout Cumnock, to A70 Coylton, to B742 to re-join the A713 and vice versa. There will be no access to or from the adjoining B730 Drongan Road during the overnight closures.
Electronic Variable Message Signs will be placed on the A713 to inform the travelling public of each overnight closure.
Emergency Access will be maintained at all times throughout the duration of the works.
It is hoped that the resurfacing work will be completed within the timescales stipulated, however the work is weather dependent and any unforeseen difficulties could result in a delay.
