Buyers are being give a final opportunity to buy some much sought-after 3-bedroom apartments in one of Glasgow's most iconic buildings, Cathcart House.
The landmark B-listed red-brick building, located on the city's south side, has been developed by the FM Group. Cathcart House is the former Scottish Power HQ and now provides a mix of 1-, 2- and 3- bedroom flats, and 2-bedroom penthouses.
However, just a handful of 3-bed apartments are now left, as buyers across the country eagerly snap up 3-bed homes in response to a desire for more space and more flexible working arrangements created by Covid-19.
According to property site Zoopla, 3 and 4-bedroom homes have recorded the biggest annual drop in supply, hitting a 5-year low, reflecting buyer demand for more space.*
With most people working from home over the past year, having space for a dedicated home office separate from other living areas has been crucial to maintaining a healthy work-life balance, but has also seen demand skyrocket. Alongside a home office, the third 'spare' room can be converted into a home gym, a games room, or even a dressing room
This is a trend that is set to continue following continuing flexible home-working arrangements for many, at least part of the time, post-pandemic. For those requiring to go to the workplace, the building is conveniently positioned near Cathcart and Mount Florida train stations providing quick and easy links into the city centre and only 12 miles away from the Airport.
The building was designed by Scottish architect, Sir John James Burnet, and built by the Wallace Scott Tailoring Institute. It was completed in 1916, however plans to further extend the building began in 1919 and lasted until 1922.
