ScottishPower – the UK's first integrated energy company to shift completely from coal and gas generation to wind power – has welcomed the Prime Minister's Ten Point Plan for a green industrial revolution which will create and support up to 250,000 British jobs.
The plan covers clean energy, transport, nature and innovative technologies, with the aim of meeting Net Zero targets by 2050.
ScottishPower is actively working to unlock Net Zero and create a better future, quicker and published its own plan earlier this year on the steps needed to achieve this.
It also recently announced record investment to support the green recovery and wider climate ambitions.
Keith Anderson, CEO of ScottishPower, said: "We share the ambition of the Ten Point Plan and welcome the Prime Minister's determination to set the UK on the path to an all-electric future.
"At ScottishPower, we're playing our part in the green industrial revolution, with record investment of £10bn over the next five years. That will double our renewable generation – and once we've achieved that, we plan to double it again. That's the level of ambition required to hit Net Zero.
"The UK should play to its strengths by investing in the country's core energy infrastructure – the networks that are critical to ensuring the delivery of renewables, hydrogen, electric vehicle chargers and heat pumps. If we get this right, I have no doubt we will create tens of thousands of new jobs."
