Plans for Steve's presidential year include introducing an online knowledge hub to support members in their professional development and improve support and communications internationally.

It is understood that he is keen to keep academic pathways to civil engineering relevant and engaged with industry and has recently become a visiting professor at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.

Mr Slessor said: "I firmly believe that the expertise and opinions of civil engineering surveyors are both influential and necessary in driving transformational change.
