Dundee City Council has announced the development of a new strategic plan with key themes to help the city continue to attract investment that will grow the city's economy, population and prosperity.
Councillors will be asked to approve the ideas behind a blueprint that could boost the city centre as a place to live, work and visit.
Alan Ross, convener of Dundee City council's city development committee said: "Every major city must keep reinventing itself to keep up with the times, and Dundee is no exception.
"Over the years in our city centre the council has been instrumental in driving changes like pedestrianisation, the development of major shopping centres, re-purposing retail units and building office space.
"With more to come, like the introduction of the Low Emission Zone, it is important that we make sure we are heading in the right direction. The city centre must meet the needs of residents, people who come in from the rest of Dundee to shop or for leisure and visitors to Dundee. That's why this investment plan is being prepared with the involvement of stakeholders vital to its success."
The core vision of the plan will see Dundee city centre continue to develop as a unique, vibrant, inclusive and sustainable place to live, work and visit.
Its role as a local and regional centre will be strengthened by enhancing its sense of place and by offering high standards of living; diverse leisure, tourism and shopping experiences; greater employment opportunities; improved connectivity and an enhanced public realm. The plan also seeks to build on recent momentum to attract investment.
The city development committee meets on Monday 9 March.
