ARC-Tech And BAM Construction Awarded For Work On Mental Health Unit

Construction News Image
hub West Scotland has awarded the inaugural Community Investment Award to ARC-Tech and BAM Construction, for their work on a brand new mental health unit set within the grounds of Stobhill Hospital.

The new unit will be one of the country's most-advanced in mental health support and in celebration of BAM and Arc-Tech's efforts during the construction programme, both organisations have been recognised by hub West with the Community Investment Award.

The award is designed to recognise when hub's supply chain partners go above and beyond their contractual commitments in delivering social, economic or environmental benefits to the communities in which hub are developing new community facilities.

BAM began the construction of two new acute mental health wards on behalf of hub West Scotland and its client NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde at the beginning of 2019 with Arc-Tech joining the programme in the summer of that year.

BAM donated two Portacabins, with Arc-Tech connecting them to power, and the wider team donated power tools and other materials. BAM has continued to donate a trailer of pallets, plywood and cable drums on a weekly basis which the men then recycle and up-cycle and continue to help out where they can, often in their own time.

John Gallacher, Managing Director of Arc-Tech said: "We were delighted to hear that BAM Construction was to receive this award and we congratulate them for all of their efforts. Arc-Tech has had a great working relationship with BAM and hub West during this programme and will continue to provide support by a variety of means, including community-based projects."
