Aberdeen City Council have announced a public consultation to help shape a plan to further encourage and cater for a great uptake of electric vehicles for the next five to 10 years.
The EV Framework will involve two rounds of consultation with the current stage of information gathering, and a further round before a report is drafted to be presented at a council committee.
The Council has been working with funders and partners since 2011 to roll out electric vehicle (EV) charge points across Aberdeen in line with Scottish Government policy.
Numbers of charging sessions at council-run points increased by 25% over the last 12 months and ACC has added an extra six charge points to the network this year, bringing a total of 100 across the city with 62 of those available for public use and the rest for car club vehicles and ACC's own fleet. There are also many other electric vehicle charge points across the city that are not controlled by the City Council.
The City Council is seeing an increasing demand for existing charge points as well as demand for new charge points in other locations. As well as informing future introduction of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, the EV framework will address a host of factors including the management of charge points, current challenges and complementary measures which can help to encourage their adoption.
A survey is being held as part of the EV Framework consultation and is available until 24 January 2020 on the Aberdeen City Council website here.
