A new purpose-built nursery is to be developed in the grounds of Keith Grammar School, in a partnership announced between Moray Council and new charity Flexible Childcare Services Scotland (FCSS).
The new 65-place nursery will open in August and be run by new charity FCSS.
Working in partnership with Moray Council, FCSS is offering fully-funded, flexible early learning and childcare to eligible 2-5 year-olds in the Keith area.
The nursery is currently under construction within the grounds of Keith Grammar School. It will provide families with state of the art facilities and resources giving the children in their care the best possible experiential and responsive early learning experience in the area.
The custom-built facility has been designed to provide the children with areas to develop their literacy, numeracy, health and well-being skills. These areas include: construction play spaces; a home corner; story & quiet areas; natural and eco-friendly areas; emergent writing tables and messy play. Children can freely choose which resources or experiences they wish to participate in.
All areas are designed to support children in learning through play following the Curriculum for Excellence model. Resources support the children in developing their understanding, thinking, investigating, imagination and problem-solving skills.
Families who enrol at the new nursery are able to book day care by the hour, only paying for the time they book. They aren't subject to any up-front costs, deposits or holiday retainers. The new nursery is inclusive and open to all including children with additional needs.
All FCSS staff hold appropriate early learning and childcare qualifications, and are supported in continuing their personal and professional development.
Welcoming the development, Moray Council's Chair of Children and Young People's Committee, Cllr Sonya Warren, said: "We are very excited about the new facility, as well as offering state of the art facilities and equipment the new nursery will fill a much needed gap for parents in the Keith area looking for accessible and affordable childcare."
