Kirkcaldy Road Improvement Works Announced

Fife Council have announced a £75,000 investment in road improvement works in Kirkcaldy.

Carriageway resurfacing on A921 Kinghorn Road, Kirkcaldy will start on Monday 11 November and run until Friday 22 November 2019.

Cllr Altany Craik, Convener of Economy, Tourism, Strategic Planning and Transportation Committee said: "We maintain over 2,400 km of roads in Fife and we are spending millions each year repairing and improving them.

"Our road network is vital to support economic development, inward investment, tourism, leisure and travel to work. Almost everyone in Fife uses our roads on a daily basis, which is why this type of maintenance work is so essential."

The works will be carried out in phases from the Peebles Street junction to Esplanade/Invertiel traffic signals.

• Bridge Street will be closed for the duration of the works with an alternative route for through traffic via Bridge Street, Pratt Street, Abbotshall Road, Nicol Street and Esplanade.

• Peebles Street junction at Kinghorn Road will be closed.

• The existing traffic signals will be turned off and temporary traffic lights will be used.

• Working hours will be Monday to Friday from 7.30 am to 5.00 pm.

There will be access for emergency services but access for residents and businesses will be at the discretion of the contractor.

Cllr Craik concluded: "We apologise for any inconvenience and delay caused by these essential works, and we will try to keep any disturbance to a minimum. Your patience and co-operation during this time is greatly appreciated."
