A new housing development consisting of 19 high quality, energy efficient homes for rent, in a range of sizes and types including two specially designed homes for wheelchair users with integral carports, has been completed at Carskeoch Drive, Patna.
The site has been redeveloped by CCG and was previously occupied by Patna Resource Centre.
Councillor Douglas Reid, Leader of the Council was joined by Councillor Elena Whitham, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, local members Councillor Drew Filson and Councillor Elaine Dinwoodie on the visit to the new houses.
Councillor Reid: "Throughout East Ayrshire we are building new homes in our towns and villages, transforming the lives of tenants and regenerating areas which have lain empty for many years.
"Creating affordable homes, supporting the local building industry and creating jobs for local people; the housing building programme within East Ayrshire is changing both lives and the local townscape.
"We are very grateful to Janice for allowing us to visit her new home– we hope they will be very happy living in Carskeoch Drive."
The development was built by the Council's strategic partner CCG (Scotland) Ltd.
Calum Murray, Director of CCG, said: "The strategic partnership between ourselves and East Ayrshire Council really does take us across the region and with Carskeoch Avenue; we have a unique proposition for the future residents with a very scenic backdrop.
"The development brings much-needed affordable homes to Patna whilst the collaboration between CCG and East Ayrshire Council has also delivered one new full-time job, one trade apprenticeship and supported locally-based organisations in the form of a £5,000 donation."
All the homes, which are being delivered through the Scottish Procurement Alliance, meet Housing for Varying Needs and Secure by Design standards and Silver Standard accreditation.
The project received £1.4m in grant funding from the Scottish Government and contributes to their target to deliver 50,000 affordable homes by 2021. This is in keeping with the Council's vision – "Everyone in East Ayrshire to be able to afford and have access to a quality home that meets their needs and aspirations, and is located within a safe and attractive neighbourhood in which they are proud to live."
