Dundee City Council are inviting people to learn about the city's biodiversity as part of a campaign to promote nature and wildlife.
The Dundee BioBlitz event provides a unique opportunity for anyone to discover what biodiversity has to offer.
BioBlitz events bring scientists and members of the public together to survey natural spaces. This weekend participants can seek, identify and record as many species as possible in 24 hours at Riverside Nature Park.
The Friends of Riverside Nature Park, Dundee City Council's Trees, Woodlands in Greenspaces Project and local experts will host a Bat & Moth walk on Saturday.
Members of the public have the opportunity to learn more about nocturnal creatures at Riverside Nature Park between 8:30pm and 10:30pm. Participants should bring their own torches to take part.
On Sunday, a Sustrans volunteer-led cycle ride will begin at Douglas Terrace, Broughty Ferry at 11am. This will lead to Slessor Gardens for 11:30am, and proceed along the National Cycle Route 77 to Riverside Nature Park. The main event of the weekend will take place at the Nature Park between 12 Noon and 4pm.
More representatives from nature organisations will be present on Sunday to share information. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to plant ponds, put up bird boxes and help identify bees & butterflies.
Councillor Steven Rome, depute convener of Dundee City Council's Neighbourhood Services Committee said: "Riverside Nature Park is a fantastic greenspace and biodiversity resource for the city.
"The Friends of Riverside Nature Park help to keep the park a welcoming place for both people and wildlife. This BioBlitz will be a fantastic opportunity to find out exactly what does live here and will help us to manage it appropriately in the future."
