Work is due to begin on building 250 affordable homes in Moray this year.

Moray Council's Strategic Local Programme sees the local authority working with other registered social landlords, including Hanover, Cairn and Osprey Housing to build homes.

Investment will total £9.7 million, funded by the Scottish Government, with units expected to be completed at sites in Elgin, Keith, Buckie, Mosstodloch, Hopeman and Aberlour by 2021/22.


It comes as the council confirms 90 homes were completed in 2018/19 under the Moray Affordable Housing Supply Programme in towns including Elgin, Forres and Keith.

Moray Council's Chair of the Communities Committee, Cllr Louise Laing, said that despite facing slippage at some sites over the last 12 months, work has progressed well.

Cllr Laing said: "I'm pleased that despite delays over contractual negotiations, we were in a position to bring forward other developments, helping us stay on track with building these much-needed affordable homes. We'll continue to work with other social landlords in Moray to ensure we keep up the momentum on affordable housing delivery."
