Morrison Construction's Section Engineer Kim McGowan was last night recognised at the CECA Scotland Awards as the joint-winner of the Most Promising Trainee Civil Engineer for 2018.
The CECA (Civil Engineering Contractors Association) Scotland Awards celebrate new and emerging talent in the industry.
Kim accepted her award in front of a crowd of colleagues from across the industry on 28 March at the Doubletree by Hilton Glasgow Central Hotel.
Based in Inverness, Kim has been working for Morrison Construction since finishing her studies at the University of West of Scotland in 2013.
She began her career with the Morrison Construction's Infrastructure Scotland business as a Graduate Site Engineer at the £50m Elgin Flood Alleviation Scheme for Moray Council, which was officially opened in 2017.
Since her first job with Morrison Construction, Kim gained experience working in the renewable energy sector on wind farm projects that the company successfully delivered. This included: Moy Wind Farm, Windy Standard 2 Wind Farm, Tom Nan Clach Wind Farm enabling works and most recently Dorenell Wind Farm.
Reflecting on winning the award, Kim said: "The award means a lot to me. It is great that my hard work has been recognised by my peers, especially as I am usually the only female on site.
"It was fantastic to be nominated, let alone actually win. I look forward to continuing to learn and progress my career with Morrison Construction."
