A collaboration between Morrison Construction and P4P (Partnership for Procurement) has resulted in two local social enterprises winning work on the supply chain of the leading Scottish contractor.
Formed in 2017, P4P has wasted no time providing support and expertise to third sector organisations, as a partnership between four national organisations in Scotland: Senscot, Social Firms Scotland, Scottish Community Alliance and Co-operative Development Scotland with funding provided by the Scottish Government.
Through P4P, Morrison Construction was introduced to local charities, Edinburgh Community Food and Forth Valley Community Focus CIC (Community Interest Company).
Both social enterprises successfully qualified to become part of Morrison Construction's trusted supply chain, earning work with the company in the process.
Morrison Construction's Edinburgh office is now one of the 100 workplaces Leith-based Edinburgh Community Food supplies with healthy fruit snacks.
Catering services required for meetings and events at the office are now prepared and delivered by the Forth Valley Community Focus CIC.
Both social enterprises invest money earned by their businesses back into community development initiatives.
Morrison Construction, Economic Performance Manager, Jim Johnstone, said: "At Morrison Construction, we work where we live in so it is important to create successful relationships with local business, providing economic benefit to the community.
"Working with P4P has connected us with the excellent services these social enterprises provide. We look forward to working with both Edinburgh Community Food and Forth Valley Community Focus CIC, now part of our trusted supply chain."
Senscot Executive Director, Aidan Pia also said: "P4P takes a proactive approach to identify opportunities for social enterprise to do business with both the public and private sector.
"We are delighted that Edinburgh Community Food and Forth Valley Community Focus CIC are now part of the supply chain with Morrison Construction and that P4P were able to support both organisations through this process."
