Aberdeenshire Council has announced essential resurfacing works on the A920 Huntly to Dufftown Road from the Junction of the A96T to Junction C115S Artloch. The work is programmed to take 2 weeks commencing Monday, March 18 and will involve full width carriageway resurfacing and edge repairs.
The works form part of our annual Road Maintenance Programme 2018/19 and will cost £125,000. Approximately 900 tonnes of new asphalt material will be machine laid which represents a considerable investment in the road.
In order to protect the safety of road users and the workforce on site, the A920 will be closed 24/7 Monday to Friday and also during the weekend for the duration of the two week closure. Access will be maintained to affected properties and businesses. Pedestrian access and access for emergency vehicles will also be maintained.
Diversion routes will be signed via A920 – A941 Dufftown; A941 – A95 Craigellachie; A95 – A96T Keith; A96T – A920 Huntly and vice versa. An alternative diversion route is available via B9014 however there is a low bridge on this route which make it suitable only for cars and light vehicles. We would also encourage the public not to use the C110S Drumdelgie/Falconry Centre road as a shortcut as there are limited passing places and soft verges.
Derek Murray, Roads and Landscape Manager for the Marr and Banff & Buchan areas, said: "This work is essential to ensure the road remains fit for purpose and safe for all road users.
"We appreciate that the signed diversion route will be lengthy and we apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we will do everything possible to ensure that the work is carried out in the shortest possible timescale.
"Motorists are asked to adhere to any temporary site warning signs including speed limits and, when road closures are in place, follow the signed diversions."
