Consultation Launched On Future Development Of Troon

Construction News Image
South Ayrshire Council has announced a consultation event on the future development of Troon.

Troon Together – which is being funded by South Ayrshire Council and the Scottish Government's Making Places Fund – will give local people the chance to discuss the big issues affecting the future success of the town and help identify what needs to be done to turn their ideas and visions into reality.

The Council is establishing a steering group to lead the Troon Together consultation, which will include representation from the Council, community council, Troon Development Trust, tenants and residents groups, community groups and local businesses.

The steering group will be led by a specialist external partner – who is yet to be appointed – and work is underway to invite bids from interested companies.

Councillor Douglas Campbell, Leader of South Ayrshire Council, said: "We want all our towns and villages to be the best they can, providing attractive and welcoming places to live, work and visit and making the most of our people and places.

"Troon Together will give local people the chance to get involved in shaping the future of the town by having their say on issues such as the town centre, transport, community facilities, the environment, arts and culture, the local economy and how we build on the many strengths the town has.

"The aim will be to bring everyone's views together to create a vision and masterplan that not only set out exactly what the people of Troon want for their town but – crucially – also provide the roadmap for how we make that happen.

"This will be a significant consultation and I hope as many people as possible take the opportunity to get involved when the time comes and play their part in shaping the future of Troon.

"I have no doubt that this will be the start of an exciting journey and I can't wait to see the plans for Troon Together take shape."

The first meeting of the Troon Together steering group will take place before the end of the month to get planning for the consultation underway.
