SGN will be undertaking more pipe upgrade work to its network in the Linden Lea area of the town next month.
The £295,00 project is part of SGN's essential upgrade work which involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.
Following discussions with the council, the project will start on Monday 18 February and last approximately six weeks. The work will be carried out over three phases to help minimise disruption in the area:
• Phase 1 – approximately one week
On Monday 18 February, we will begin work in Burnbank Road between number 40 and number 20.
During this phase, to ensure everyone's safety, layby will be closed outside the properties to allow excavation on the highway. No traffic management will be required at this stage.
• Phase 2 – approximately four weeks
From Monday 25 February, work continues in Burnbank Road between number 40 and the entrance to the tanning salon. A layby closure and temporary two-way traffic lights will be in place to allow excavation and installation of new pipe. The temporary two-way traffic lights will be removed after week three.
• Phase 3 – approximately two weeks
From Monday 18 March, work in Burnbank Road from the tanning salon heading towards the church at Clydesdale Street. The layby closure between number 40 and the tanning salon on Burnbank Road will be reopened.
To ensure everyone's safety we will install three-way temporary traffic lights, plus a pedestrian phase, at the junction with Burnbank Road and Clydesdale Street to allow a partial lane closure.
Regular updates will be posted on the SGN website along with social media and traffic bulletins to keep residents and motorists informed.
