Building work totalling some £95,000 is to benefit two community projects, Dundee City Council has announced.

The Clatto Visitor Centre and Charleston Community centre will have alterations and refurbishments to their facilities if councillors give two tenders the green light next week.

Lynne Short convener of Dundee City Council's city development committee, which meets on Monday, 28 January, said: "Making these relatively small investments in buildings in our communities pays back huge dividends for the people who live there and use them."


Toilet upgrades at the Clatto Visitor Centre will include refurbishment to the existing block to bring it back into use. New sanitary ware, cubicles, flooring work, electrical and mechanical work will cost just over £60,000 with work expected to be completed by spring.

A new dividing partition in the hall at Charleston Community Centre will create two individual spaces when required and alterations to the entrance hall include a new door set and partition. Both areas will also be repainted at a total cost of £35,000. Work is again expected to be completed in spring.

Cash for the works is coming from the Community Infrastructure Fund.
