Scottish Water Completes Mains Work In South Lanarkshire

Scottish Water has completed an upgrade to its water mains network in South Lanarkshire ahead of schedule, improving its service to customers in the area.

The utility provider has invested almost £525,000 in upgrading approximately 2.6 miles of pipework along the local water mains network in Dalserf and Rosebank to provide customers with additional resilience.

Initially expected to take around five months for completion, the work carried out by Caledonia Water Alliance on behalf of Scottish Water has been delivered ahead of schedule and took just four months to complete.

Joanne Craig, Customer Manager with Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA) commented on the early completion. She said: "Rather than using the traditional open cut method of mains replacement, the team were able to use less disruptive techniques to upgrade the pipes. That's had a positive impact on the timescales for the project and means that we've finished well in time for all of the festive activities that will take place in coming weeks."

Ruaridh MacGregor, Scottish Water's corporate affairs regional manager, added: "It's always great when we can tell communities that our work has been completed early. Our investment here means that customers can be confident in their water supply and it also brings a reduced risk of bursts in the area.

"The communities of Dalserf and Rosebank have been extremely understanding and accommodating during this essential work and we've really appreciated their cooperation."
