The Clackmannanshire Commission has welcomed a number of proposals received as part of their call for submissions for the City Regional Deal.
The Commission issued a call last month for submissions for up to £8 million that the UK government has committed for local capital projects to boost innovation, internationalisation and economic transformation. Capital funding is used for physical projects such as buildings, roads and bridges. Funding can only be used for areas of policy that are reserved by the UK Government, and must be used to support the delivery of projects which align with the UK Government's Industrial Strategy.
Several applications have been received by the Commission, which will now review these. Those that meet the outline requirements will be invited to submit a more detailed application early next year.
Council Leader Ellen Forson said: "The Commission is delighted to have received a variety of applications for this funding. We want to put forward strong proposals to secure this funding over the next 15 years, and it's great that people share our vision of a more prosperous and fair future for Clackmannanshire."
The UK and Scottish Governments are investing over £90 million in Stirling and Clackmannanshire through an ambitious City Region Deal. This deal will unlock economic opportunities across the whole of the region, delivering new and up-skilled jobs across a range of sectors.
The Clackmannanshire Commission is a partnership of local public, private and third sector organisations acting as an advisory board, guiding investment, project development and prioritisation. Commissioners will be active participants in driving inclusive economic growth through the City Region Deal and other local and regional programmes.
