Second Phase Of EV Cluster Work 'Just Around The Corner'

The second phase of a successful city electric vehicle charging cluster could be "just around the corner", Dundee City Council has said.

Councillors will be asked to green light £75,000 worth of work to install facilities at Balgay Street in Lochee.

Mark Flynn depute convener of Dundee City Council's city development committee said: "Since we opened the initial hub in Aimer Square in April it has proved to be well used and well-liked by both private EV drivers and taxi operators.

"This second phase will see three chargers put in nearby, again with the backing of the Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), Go Ultra Low cities project.

"Developments like this help us all to reap the benefits of cleaner air."

If councillors approve the bid for the work by Swarco it is expected to start in November and take around a month to complete.

The city development committee meets on Monday October 29.

A total of three hubs are planned for the Lochee ward.
