A major route through Gourock is to be partially closed for at least seven weeks to allow the works to take place.
Inverclyde Council is carrying out work to remove and replace the waterproofing membrane on the Cardwell Road bridge over the Gourock to Glasgow train line.

Repairs will also be carried out to the existing concrete bridge deck and new kerbs and pavements installed on the stretch between Caledonia Crescent and Caledonia Gardens.
Environment & Regeneration Convener Councillor Michael McCormick said: "This is the main route through Gourock so clearly any partial closure is going to cause a degree of inconvenience for people.
"These repairs are absolutely essential to protect the bridge and increase its lifespan so that more extensive and disruptive work can be avoided.
"They will be carried out as quickly and safely as possible to minimise problems for road users and local people."
