Clackmannanshire roads have been named the safest in the UK according to a new study.
The information has come to light following analysis of data gathered by the UK Department of Transport by technology business Teletrac Navman.
The study shows that there were no fatalities on Clackmannanshire's roads between 2012-2016.
Clackmannanshire Council Leader Ellen Forson welcomed the news.
She said: "Safety when travelling effects everyone in their daily routine, so I'm delighted and proud to hear that our roads are the safest in the UK. Giving everyone the ability to travel safely by all modes of transport is a priority for local government, especially where children and vulnerable groups are concerned.
"As the volume and speed of vehicles on the roads increases, the risk to public safety when travelling is more apparent. So we are not complacent about our good record and continue to work to minimise both the real and perceived hazards to drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and vulnerable groups including the elderly and the young by investing in road safety."
Chief Inspector Mark Patterson added: "It is very heartening to have the safety of Clackmannanshire's roads recognised nationally. However, we cannot be complacent and will continue to robustly monitor all roads in the area to maintain road safety and identify any motoring offences.
"We work closely with our relevant partners to promote safe driving practices on our road networks and Clackmannanshire being named as having the safest roads in Britain is testament to the ongoing collaborative work taking place in the region."
