An information day is being held to inform contractors and suppliers about the work opportunities offered by the Hawick Flood Protection Scheme.
Scottish Borders Council will be hosting the event on 29 August from 11am to 8pm at Hawick Town Hall.
The scheme will deliver protection from a 1 in 75 flood event to over 900 residential and commercial properties at risk along the River Teviot and Slitrig Water, with the main contract starting in June 2019 and due to be completed in 2022.
Executive Member for Roads and Infrastructure, Councillor Gordon Edgar, said: "While the main objective of the Hawick Flood Protection Scheme is to deliver protection to homes and businesses in the town, the Council also wants to ensure that a number of other community benefits are provided to Hawick and the Borders.
"The Contractor and Supplier Information Day is an ideal opportunity for Borders companies to find out more about getting involved in the scheme and working with the main contractor, who is due to be announced in spring 2019.
"The goal of the information day is that all contractors and suppliers are provided with more information about the project, timescales, the town and the opportunities to be involved in the project."
He added: "Local firms are encouraged to attend the event and if that is not possible the opportunity to register their details is available, with this information being provided to the main contractor.
"It is hoped this will support local jobs and the economy during the construction of one of the most significant civil engineering schemes ever seen in our area."
