Resurfacing work has begun on two sections of the Tankerness Hall road in Orkney.

It will take place between Swarsquoy Road and Shore Road.

The road will be closed in both directions during the works, affecting various bus routes.

The work is part of a number of resurfacing works across Orkney beginning in May.


Work has been completed to resurface a number of roads including:

• Old Finstown Road between Market Stance and 30mph;

• A986 between Refuse Corner and Bimbister Road;

• A986 between Dounby 30pmh signs;

• A965 from Binsgarth Farm to Germiston Road;

• B9056 between Skara Brae – Quoyloo Road;

• A964 between Nealand – Houton;

• A964 between Houton and Clowally;

• A964 between School House and Germiston Road;

• and A966 between 30mph at Cemetery and Old Evie School.

Further works on the Grainshore Road between Grainshore Road 30mph and A965, and A965 through Finstown 30mph to Marsdene, will take place in the coming weeks.
