Residents are being invited to view plans for the Lenzie Station Improvement Project in East Dunbartonshire.
The council is hosting a drop-in event later this month to provide information on the scheme and to give people an idea how the development will look.
Since September 2016, the local authority has been working on proposals to improve public space to the north of the station.
A report was brought to a recent meeting of the Place, Neighbourhood and Corporate Assets Committee and members agreed to proceed with a detailed design, which includes;
• Upgrading traffic signals, retaining the right-hand turning facility
• Improving pedestrian crossings
• Introduction of short-term parking bays (two hours) to improve access to local shops
• Footpath improvements with retained kerb heights
• Improved lighting
• High-quality materials and enhanced street furniture
• Improved accessibility to the rail station
• Better parking facilities
• Bus stop upgrade, with real-time information
Cllr Billy Hendry, Convener of Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets, said: "The aim of the Lenzie Station Improvement Project is to improve accessibility to local facilities and redesign the public space – making it feel safer and look better.
"It has been a challenge for the team to balance the needs of residents, businesses, customers, rail users and more, but it has culminated in designs which we believe will help to address long-standing issues.
"I'm particularly pleased that there will be more short-term parking – helping to support local businesses and services.
"Unfortunately, Lenzie Station car park is not owned by the Council so we have limited influence in implementing changes there, but we are working with Abellio ScotRail and other partners to make it easier for people to move between different forms of transport in the area."
The drop-in event will take place from 3pm – 7pm at Lenzie Public Hall on Wednesday, 13 June.
