Work is continuing on a new council housing development in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire.
A total of 43 properties are being developed by CCG at Robertson Street, Fenwick Drive and Blackbyres Court. Work is already underway at Robertson Street and completion is on schedule for winter 2018.
The project is part of the council's plans to deliver 240 homes for social rent over the next five years.
As part of the development, CCG will create eight new jobs and 13 work experience placements. Throughout the building works, a range of learning opportunities for East Renfrewshire schools will also be developed by the company, giving young people the opportunity to learn about careers in different areas of the construction business, including project management.
Barrhead's Business Improvement District (BID) will also benefit, with a new intern to be appointed to work on town centre initiatives. Donations of up to £9,500 will also be made in the future to other Barrhead community and employability causes throughout the project.
Cllr Danny Devlin said: "The Council house build project is exciting for the people of Barrhead and we are delighted to be developing more homes for social rent, which will benefit residents for generations to come. The Council always looks to achieve best value with all contracts, and this includes the commitment from suppliers to support the communities of East Renfrewshire.
"These new jobs and experiences for young people are very much welcome and we look forward to continuing to work with CCG to deliver these commitments."
CCG Group HR Manager, Lynn Stodart, added: "Offering support to local communities is something which we have committed to since day one – we will always seek to provide employment and training opportunities and we are delighted to be working with East Renfrewshire and BID to bring these to the community of Barrhead."
