Work is to start on a £172,000 road resurfacing project on the A726 in East Kilbride.

The scheme will take place between the the Righead and Murray roundabouts from 21 – 24 May.

The project is a follow up to last year's Queensway westbound resurfacing. Preparatory works will be required to be undertaken in advance of these works during overnight lane closures. Diversions will be in place.


Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ's Principal Design Engineer said: "We've worked closely with local authorities and key stakeholders to carefully plan these works to reduce the impact on commuters and shoppers in and around East Kilbride. Planning around other major utility projects in the area we have scheduled closures for overnight only.

"Traffic management will only be installed at night once traffic levels are sufficiently low and lifted first thing before the morning rush hour begins. The Queensway is a busy local artery and we want to keep the town flowing while maximising the efficiency of the works."
