Work on a £500,000 sewer upgrade project in central Strathpeffer is now complete.
amey-Black & Veatch (aBV) have finished work to renew a section of the main sewer, ensuring the network can continue to serve customers and protect the local environment.
Beginning in late January, the scheme involved closing a section of the A834 for several weeks, with a further two-day closure taking place over the Easter holiday period to enable final reinstatement of the road to take place. Following the initial road closure, the majority of the work was completed using a specialised relining technique to renew the existing sewer, minimising the requirement for widespread excavation and further disruption in the village.
Gavin Steel, of Scottish Water, said: "We are pleased this important project has been completed on schedule and at the time of year that was identified in consultation with the community to reduce the disruption involved. aBV and their contractors Morrison Construction and FET have worked hard to deliver the work and overcome the challenges involved.
"I would like to thank local residents, businesses and road users for their patience and understanding while the project has been on-going.
"As a result of this investment, a critical section of the sewer network in Strathpeffer has been renewed and will be able to serve the village for years to come. This also means that there is much reduced risk of unplanned disruption in the future."
Scott Heath, Senior Project Manager at aBV, said: "Despite some challenging conditions over the last few months, including the wintry weather causing delays in finalising the reinstatement of the road, I'm pleased that we have managed to complete the overall project on schedule."
