Wilmott Dixon is set to build a new multi-use community centre in Dundee.
City Councillors will meet next week to discuss a report recommending the approval of an £8.9 million tender for the scheme.
According to the report, the total projected cost of the new Menzieshill Community Project will be £13.2m when fees, land purchase, furniture, landscaping and other elements are taken into account.
The project includes building a new multi-use centre with two games halls, a fitness suite, a library and community multi-purpose rooms and areas, complete with a cafe. With a total floor area of around 3,100m1, access for vehicles to the two-storey building will be from Dickson Avenue.
In addition, Willmott Dixon's sub-contractors' Robertson Construction, along with all its
sub-contractors, will commit to paying the Scottish Living Wage as a minimum to all employees actively employed on the site.
Lynne Short, convener of of the council's city development committee, said: "Many of the positive things I have done in my life can be traced back to spending countless happy hours at Menzieshill Community Centre when I was wee.
"Facilities like this don't just benefit our children for the few hours a day or week that they are there, but for years into the future when the friendships they make, the life lessons they learn and the physical activities they enjoy help to create happy, healthy adults."
The new community facility is expected to take around one year to build.
