SSEN Completes £1.4m Elgin Substation Upgrade Project
Work on a £1.4 million electricity network upgrade project in Elgin is now complete.
Engineers from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) replaced electrical equipment at Elgin Primary substation to ensure a safe and reliable supply of electricity to residents in the area.
The scheme was carried out as circuit breakers and electrical plant located at the substation were nearing the end of their operational life.
Neil Wilson, Head of Region for North Caledonia (North East and Shetland) at SSEN, said: "We know how important a safe and reliable supply of electricity is to our local communities and we're delighted to complete major engineering works on the Elgin electricity grid to improve the service we provide to our customers.
"This refurbishment programme will greatly improve network reliability in the area, with modernised equipment enabling our teams to minimise power cuts and restore supplies quicker in the event of a fault."
