CCG has started work to build a new waste transfer station and associated works in Edinburgh.

The Seafield Depot Phase 2 project is being developed in the north east of the city, adjacent to the existing Seafield Community Recycling centre at Fillyside Road, Seafield.

The new waste transfer facility will feature a single-storey commercial building with a brick façade to replicate the aesthetic of other commercial buildings in the surrounding area. Inside the building will contain four bays for refuse, a single accessible toilet and a lobby. In addition, there will be three pedestrian access doors on the north, east and south sides of the building. The works also include the creation of new public access road from the Seafield Road

Calum Murray, director of CCG said: "CCG are delighted to start work on another project with City of Edinburgh Council. We have worked with the council for several years now ranging from large scale housing projects to planned maintenance.

"Our experience in the industrial-commercial sector is proven with various projects completed across Scotland and we look forward to bringing this experience in the development of the Seafield Depot."

Cllr Lesley Macinnes said: "The investment in a new waste transfer station at Seafield, to accompany the recently built depot, will help us to provide a more efficient and reliable service as well as providing our staff with modern working facilities.

"This development will also support our commitment to improve the city's Waste and Cleansing service via the Waste and Cleansing Improvement Plan."
