Residents and businesses are being invited to air their views on a new plan to tackle pollution in Bearsden.
East Dunbartonshire Council is looking for views on its draft Bearsden Air Quality Action Plan.
Part of Bearsden was declared an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) after investigations flagged up issues around Bearsden Cross, the area close to Roman Road and along the A809 Drymen Road/A810 Duntocher Road corridor.
Road traffic emissions appear to be the main contributor and, in particular, emissions from queuing traffic.
To help improve air quality, a draft Bearsden Air Quality Action Plan has been produced with an initial list of 29 measures.
Thomas Glen, Depute Chief Executive - Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets, said: "I hope as many residents and businesses in the Bearsden area as possible take the opportunity to get involved and comment on the draft plan.
"Once all of the comments and responses have been analysed, an amended plan will be published, taking into account appropriate comments.
"There will then be workshops and community events when, again, participation by residents and local businesses will be encouraged."
The list of proposed measures includes:
• Installation of intelligent traffic management systems to reduce congestion
• Additional yellow lines near schools and hotspots
• Increasing the number of electric car charge points across East Dunbartonshire
• Continuing to carry out awareness-raising campaigns - including the involvement of pupils in science projects, art competitions and planting days
• Undertaking planting schemes within or adjacent to Bearsden AQMA
• Investigating options within the Council for increased use of electric/hybrid vehicles
• Continuing to work with local communities and residents to improve health and address health inequalities.
