Up to 150 new 'affordable' homes are to be built in Dumbarton.
Marshall Construction has been appointed to deliver the £15 million scheme on the site of the former Ballantine's Whisky Distillery.
Preparatory works are now underway with construction scheduled to begin towards the end of this month. The first homes are scheduled for completion by March 2019.
The development was made possible through partnership between the Scottish Government, West Dunbartonshire Council, Dunbritton Housing Association, Cullross and the Bank of Scotland.
Gareth Bland, Development & Bid Manager of Marshall Construction, said: "We are delighted to have won this important contract which demonstrates our solid record of successfully completing major projects of this scale and builds upon our relationship with Cullross.
"This exciting project will add to our current portfolio of Affordable Housing Developments and will also allow us to contribute to the local economy by providing high-quality accommodation that will bring new life back into a once derelict area of Dumbarton."
Sephton MacQuire, Dunbritton's Chair, said: "This development will breathe new life into the town centre, enabling local people to enjoy living in affordable homes right on the Harbour side. Phases 1 and 2 will deliver 150 much-needed quality to this area and on behalf of the Board of Management I'd like to thank all of the partners who have worked together to make this possible."
Ryan Fletcher, Managing Director of Cullross, said: "This is a large and exciting project for everyone involved. The works to upgrade the Quay Walls have begun and the site has been pegged out ready for earthworks to start in January. We look forward to delivering these much needed affordable homes over the coming months ahead."
