Forties Pipeline System Reopens Following Repair Work

Construction News Image
Work to repair a crack in the Forties Pipeline System in the North Sea is now complete.

At the start of December, operator Ineos revealed the system would have to be closed after engineers discovered a small hairline crack in the pipe at Red Moss near Netherley.

The Forties pipeline carries crude North Sea oil across sea and land for processing at Grangemouth, supplying around 40% of the UK's North Sea oil and gas production.

Following the repairs, the system is now fully operational and the Ineos facility at Kinneil has restarted.

Ineos said: "We apologise to our customers and the local community for the issues that the pipeline closure has created."
